Beltsville Day is this Sunday, May 15, 2011, at the community center on Sellman Rd. It's a nice little event that makes Beltsville seem like a small town for a day. The state (meaning, the folks who work in Annapolis) and local politicians are often there and you can actually chat with them for a while. I know some people who will have a booth selling fish tacos and I am sure the food will be amazing.

Also, St. Joseph's Church, on Montgomery Road, is having a rummage sale on Saturday, the 14th.

Looking ahead to next weekend, the Joint Armed Services Open House (the event formerly known as the Andrews Air Force Base Open House) is next weekend. Definitely read the web site thoroughly before you go to understand where to park and all the other rules. For example, you can't take a bottle of water. They do have free water fountains and cups there, though. Also, keep in mind that you are going to be standing around on a concrete tarmac. The only shade is in the shadows of the wings of the planes they have out on display.
